Boss on giving players a rocket after Fleetwood defeat
Crewe Alexandra Manager Steve Davis said he delivered one or two home truths to his players in the dressing room after a final day defeat to Fleetwood Town.
The team were relegated from League One in early April with still five games to play and recorded just seven victories all season – with Davis choosing the end of season curtain closer as the moment to let rip on his team.
Steve told crewealex.net “I feel exactly like the fans. If you brought one in to the dressing room then they’d let everything out, it’s been frustrating.
“The players need to know how we feel. The fans have let me know how they feel about what I’ve done, that’s fair enough and I accept that – but we also need to let the players know that some of the things that they’re doing isn’t good enough.
“We didn’t hold back after Fleetwood – they got both barrels.
“There’s going to be a big turnaround, it’s a big job but we know what we’ve got to do next season.”
