Pre-Season Will Be More Challenging

24 May 2016

Steve Davis says he has left Saturday's free to watch players and League Two sides in action.

Steve Davis has revealed to the club’s official web-site that he has specially chosen some Friday night fixtures during our pre-season preparations, so the staff can go out and watch League Two sides and potential players.

August. thThe Alex boss is still aiming to finalise a pre-season match for the final weekend before the season starts against on 6

Steve told crewealex.net: “The pre-season fixtures are virtually concluded and I am satisfied with them. We will still like to arrange a game the week before the new season starts and we have put a circular out to see if there is any interest in that.

“I don’t mind if it is a Friday night or Saturday. I would preferably like it on a Saturday, so we can get used to playing at that time but it is not essential.

“We have kept some Saturday’s free, as it will allow us to go out and watch players and some of the teams we will be facing in League Two. We have to do our homework on them because we haven’t been at that level for a few years.

He added: “We have Bolton and Wolves at home and they will be a test. We couldn’t do that last year because of the work being done on the pitch, so it will be good to have some more testing fixtures. The non-league clubs always present a different test as well, so the fixture list is more challenging.”
