26 May 2016

Ryan Lowe back to help Crewe become serious promotion contenders in League Two.

Ryan Lowe was confirmed as Steve Davis’ first summer signing this afternoon and the 37-year-old forward has told Crewe Alex PlayerHD that it is  ‘great to be back at Crewe’ after he signed a 12-month deal with the option of a further year.

July and will add much needed experience to a relatively young dressing room.stLowe will officially become a Crewe player again on 1

Lowe is now set for his third spell with the club after previously scoring 17 goals in 74 appearances from 2006 to 2008 and then adding two more in six appearances whilst on loan last season.

The vastly experienced striker has arrived at Gresty Road aiming to help the club be promotion contenders in League Two next season.

After re-signing for the club, Ryan told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “It is just great to be back here. It is always nice and I am just looking forward to the new season and trying to get this club back to where they belong.

“It is a new chapter and a new challenge for me but it is one I am looking forward to. It could have happened in January but it wasn’t meant to be and I was happy to go back to Bury because I was their player and I went back, played and did reasonably well.

“They offered me a contract but I wanted to come back to Crewe. Bury will always hold a special place in my heart and the send-off the club and the supporters gave me at the end of the season was phenomenal. The players, staff and the chairman were great with me and I can only thank them for that.

“People will say why would I want to drop down into League Two when I was playing in League One and scoring a few goals? - but I have come to a club with the ambition to get back up and I wanted to be a part of that.

“I want to play games and potentially score goals for the club and help us have a good season. That is one of the main reasons I am back.”

Lowe, who has incredible experience in the game, having now scored over 200 career goals in over 650 games, is sure to offer his advice to the younger generation of player coming through at Crewe.

“I want to win games for Crewe and the manager has given me licence to be a leader on and off the pitch. He can use me to be a coach on the pitch and I will always be available to the younger players, ‘says Ryan.

“I have always offered my guidance wherever possible and hopefully they will look at the career I’ve managed to have and take that on board. I will help them where I can and they are a good bunch of lads and are eager to learn.

He added: “I am sure I will be a voice on the pitch and in the dressing room and I will give them constructive criticism or encouragement if I think they need it.”
