Boss: "We Will Be Ultra Professional Again"

4 May 2016

Steve Davis says there is no pressure on them when we face relegation threatened Fleetwood on Sunday.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that his side will be going out to make things as difficult as possible for Sunday’s opponents Fleetwood Town. A victory for the Railwaymen on the final day of the season would leave the Cod Army needing a favour from Peterborough against their nearest rivals Blackpool in the tense battle to stay up.

Steve has already gone on record to say that there will be 'no favours coming from his Crewe side' after we virtually relegated Doncaster Rovers at the weekend following our deserved 3-1 win at Gresty Road.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “After our win over Doncaster, it looks like either being Fleetwood or Blackpool, so as near neighbours, I am sure their will a lot of stuff floating about on Twitter and social media.

“There is no pressure on us. I had hoped there was going to be but it wasn’t to be. Our results didn’t allow us to get close enough.

“They need at least a point I would have thought to be safe, but if we can finish the season with a win then it leaves them needing a favour from Peterborough against Blackpool.

“We have been involved on the final day in the last couple of seasons and it is not an easy thing to deal with. It is a very emotional and draining day for everyone involved in it. There is a lot of pressure that comes with that and players react in different ways.

The boss added: “I know what Steven (Pressley) his staff, players and their crowd will be going through but they know we will be professional and will be looking to end the season with an away win. We will approach the game in the same way we did for Doncaster.”
