Steve Davis looks at the signings situation
Crewe Alexandra Manager Steve Davis admitted the past staffing of permanent players hasn’t always gone to plan, but he’s focussed on getting things right this time around in the recruitment ‘gamble.’
He told crewealex.net: “I always try to be realistic with who we can afford to bring in. It gets on my nerves always saying the saying things about players, but we bring in what we can afford to bring in and our recruitment hasn’t been great.
“Some of the players, particularly loans, have been very good and helpful, but some of the permanents we’ve brought in haven’t lived up to what we thought they were going to do.
“There’s a risk with every player that you recruit, not just us, it’s a gamble for every Club. You hope that you get lucky and those players settle in and do the business for you.
“We are where we are with what we can bring in, because we aren’t top of the list for players – and that’s the facts.”
