Boss Expects Tight Affair At Highbury

6 May 2016

Steve Davis on his admiration for Pressley sticking to his principles.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis expects Sunday’s final game of the season to be a tight affair. Steven Pressley’s Fleetwood Town side need three points to safeguard their League One status but with Crewe already relegated the pressure is very firmly on the Lancashire side.

Last weekend, Crewe produced one of their best performances of the season to virtually relegate Doncaster Rovers and now Davis wants another win to end our own disappointing season.

Ahead of Sunday’s game at Highbury, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Steven always likes his sides to play the right way. They play attractive football but they are also difficult to beat. Their game are always very tight and they pride themselves on keeping things tight. They don’t give a lot away and although they don’t score a glut of goals, they pick up results.

“Steven is someone I admire because he always sticks to his principles and doesn’t stray from what he wants to do. You have to be brave to have that self-belief and I admire managers like that. He is very focussed on the strengths of his team and they are always disciplined and organised.

“We will prepare in the same way we did for the Doncaster game last weekend. We didn’t think too much about Doncaster. We focussed on what we wanted to do and what we wanted to see from our players. We managed to do that, put a good performance on and got the result.

Steve added: “It will be a similar approach this Sunday. We will have to prepare a bit differently because of the kick-off time but we will be looking to win the game.”
