U18: Crewe 4-2 Brentford

17 March 2016

Two Late World-Class Free-Kicks Down The Bees

Kenny Lunt’s Under 18’s struck twice in the final five minutes so see off plucky Brentford with a 4-2 win at Reaseheath.

Fresh off signing their first pro deals, Owen Dale (2) and Harry Pickering netted the goals, along with a fantastic Tom Lowery finish.

Crewe opened the scoring through Dale, the striker smashing a superb strike in off the underside of the crossbar inside ten minutes before The Bees drew the game level at 1-1 before half-time.

Lowery’s cheeky effort restored the lead just past the hour mark before the visitors stabbed in another equaliser on 73 minutes.

The game looked destined for a draw until Pickering stepped up to a 20-yard free-kick with five minutes left on the clock and curled a beaut into the top corner.

High off that strike, Crewe killed the game off on 88 minutes with another tremendous free-kick. Dale’s Ronaldo-esque effort from 30-yards giving the keeper no chance as Crewe collected the three points.

Crewe: Hilton, Morgan, Dowsett, Wilkinson, Neal (Woodcock, 60), Lowery, Finney, Reilly (Walley, 70), Pickering, Dale, Higham (Lundstram, 60)
