Finney & Dale Keep Up Play-Off Charge
Kenny Lunt's Crewe Alexandra Under 18 side kept up their late charge for the play-offs with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Millwall at Reaseheath.Crewe are chasing Sheffield United for the play-off spot, trailing the second place Blades by three points with both teams having three games to play.
It was two goals in the first half that secured victory over The Lions, Oli Finney blasting a penalty kick down the middle on 25 minutes after Luke Walley was fouled before in-form Owen Dale latched onto a Harry Pickering reverse pass to effectively kill the game off ten minutes before the break.
The visitors registered just one attempt on goal the entire game, goalkeeper Jake Hilton doing well to keep out the shot.
It was easy does it for Lunt's lads in torrential conditions and the score could've been greater had the clash been played out in a sedate environment.
He now takes his side to Leeds United on Saturday looking to keep up the pace with Sheffield United and the chasing Huddersfield Town.
