Bingham, Davis and Ray set to be named in the squad for the visit of Burton.
Club captain Harry Davis, George Ray and Billy Bingham are back in contention to be involved against league leaders Burton Albion tomorrow. All three successfully came through yesterday’s Under-21 fixture at home to Leeds United and are set to be named in Steve Davis’s squad of 18. If they are to start after long-term injury remains to be seen.
It is a welcome boost for the Alex to have three of their more experienced players back for the final run-in to the season. The Alex captain Davis has been restricted to just four appearances due to a knee injury and Ray has not played since breaking his ankle away at Colchester back in late November.
Bingham’s debut season has been interrupted by a problematic hamstring and he last featured for the first-team in the 4-3 defeat at Swindon in mid-January.
Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “The three of them came through the game yesterday with no problems. They all got valuable minutes on the pitch and are fine. They have trained all week and will train again today.
“It is good to have them back because we have missed them out on the pitch and in and around the group. They have all played a number of games and it will give us a boost. They will also put pressure on those ahead of them in the team at the moment. Their return will increase the competition for places that we haven’t had this season.
They will be involved in the 18 and they will be great additions for us.”
