Steve: "Knew I Could Trust Perry"

8 March 2016

Steve Davis happy with Calm debutant NG.

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he could trust handing Perry NG his full senior debut against Burton Albion. Following a calf injury to David Fox, the versatile NG came into the side at right-back with Ollie Turton moving into central midfield.

NG, who had made five substitute appearances before his first start, performed admirably up against Burton winger Lucas Akins, as Crewe picked up a point against the current League leaders.

Steve told crewealex.net: “In the situation we are in, you have to trust the younger ones and I had no hesitation putting Perry in for his first start.

“He has constantly been one of our best performers for the Under-21s. When I have seen him play or had feedback from Alex, he has always been consistently good and he deserved his chance.

He added: “It was a tough afternoon to come in against the team that are top of the league and he was up against a tough opponent but he acquitted himself well and certainly did let anyone down. He was calm and considering it was his first start he came through it well.”
