Boss calls on his fringe players to be ready for the fight if they are called upon in run-in.
Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says he would not hesitate to throw any of his returning players into the frame as we battle against relegation. Crewe travel to third placed Gillingham this weekend looking to get a first win since early February and in the process provide us with a massive boost as we aim to stay in League One.
The likes of Billy Bingham, Harry Davis and George Ray have all recently returned from injury and midfielder Chris Atkinson has returned from a good spell out on loan with Crawley. Striker Lauri Dalla Valle is also expected to get valuable game time for the Development Squad against Birmingham City on Monday afternoon after recovering from ankle ligament damage.
LDV suffered the injury in an U-21 game against Leeds back in late November and he has worked hard to get back for the run-in again.
Steve told crewealex.net: “We want to be in this league and we will do everything we can do to retain our League One status.
“We have 11 games left and I won’t hesitate to thrust our returning players into the fight, into the war, because that is what it is going to be. They will be up for it.
“Lauri has trained and looks sharp. He is lacking match fitness but the only way he is going to get that is by playing. He will play against Birmingham on Monday and I am sure he will be involved in some capacity against Blackpool if he comes through that game with no problem.”
