Scouts Continue To Watch Talented Youngsters

9 March 2016

Steve Davis believes that the Football League remains a pool of talent for bigger clubs.

Steve Davis says that scouts and recruitment managers continue to attend games at the Alexandra Stadium because we continue to blood young players in our first team. With the English game crying out for more English players, the Alex boss believes that Premier League and Championship clubs are still keeping an eye on the lower leagues to try and find the next Dele Alli, James Maddison or Nick Powell.

Steve believes that it shows that we are continuing to do something right when it comes to bringing young players through our Academy system with Ryan Colclough the latest graduate to be transferred in the January window.

Steve told crewealex.net: “The scout list continues to grow and that shows that we are going in the right direction. We cannot stop that and nor do we want to. The scouts come because they know that we produce talented young players and are willing to give them opportunities here.

“We are still getting them through and we are prepared to play them. To see Ben (Garratt) making his 100 appearance as a young goalkeeper is crazy. There won’t be any other young goalkeepers at the age of 21 in the league with that type of record.

“We like to give young players their chance and it is exciting for all of us. We have just got to keep on developing them an nurturing that pool of talent we have coming through.”
