Boss pleased with the contribution of the on-loan Hitchcock

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has praised the impact made by the on-loan forward Tom Hitchcock as the Railwaymen chased the game against fellow strugglers Blackpool. Hitchcock, on loan from MK Dons, created the equalising goal for Marcus Haber and then won a late penalty to salvage a point but Brad Inman sent his spot kick over the crossbar.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Tom came on for us and had a great impact. He made a goal for Marcus with a run into the six yard box and he was the clever to get in front of the defender to win a penalty. Unfortunately Brad put it over.

“Tom looked sharp and lively when he came on late in the game. I think that him coming out of the team helped him a little. He came here and hadn’t played a lot of games. He has worked hard and he couldn’t have made any more of an impact than he did.

“If he is fit and sharp like that then he can make a major impact for us from now until the end of the season.”
