LDV Return Could Be Perfectly Timed

14 March 2016

Lauri Dalla Valle could be involved against Blackpool if he comes through unscathed.

Steve Davis says that the club’s Finnish striker Lauri Dalla Valle could play himself back into his plans for this weekend’s home game against Blackpool if he comes through unscathed against Birmingham’s Under-21s today. The Alex host the Blues at the Alexandra Stadium at 1pm with LDV set to make his first appearance since November.

The former Liverpool and Fulham striker suffered ankle ligament damage against Leeds United in a Development Squad fixture and he has had to work hard to get back slightly ahead of schedule.

Dalla Valle is set for some game time this afternoon and with boss Steve Davis looking to improve his goal threat for the final 10 games of the season his return could be perfectly timed.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Lauri has trained with us for over a week now and he has been fine. He has continued to do extra with the physio’s as well and he is in good shape.

“He looks sharp in training but he needs match fitness. The only way Lauri is going to get that is by playing games.

“If he gets through the Under-21 game then he could well play some part in the Blackpool game at the weekend. It will be nice to have that option coming from the bench.”
