Inman Out Of Gills Clash

11 March 2016

Brad Inman not expected to travel after picking up a slight groin strain.

Crewe Alexandra will have to face Gillingham this weekend without forward Brad Inman after he was ruled out with a slight groin strain.

Steve Davis is taking no risks with the club’s leading goalscorer as he does not want to rule him out for a number of weeks. Inman is expected to return against Blackpool on 19th March.

Inman, who has scored 9 goals this season, has been one of our key players this season but the Alex boss says he has enough personnel to cover the untimely loss.

The Alex boss could turn to youngsters Callum Ainley or Charlie Kirk and hand one of them their first start after they have recently impressed as second half substitutes. Steve could also push Zoumana Bakayogo further forward and move Jon Guthrie back to left full-back.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Brad is struggling with his groin and we don’t expect him to travel later today. He has been carrying bits and bobs of late and I think the knocks have caught up with him a bit.

“He hasn’t been able to train every day and when you do miss sessions because of a knock then your fitness levels can drop.  I just think it’s his body’s way of saying he needs a rest.

“It is nothing too serious and we hope he will be available for Blackpool next weekend. He should be back training next week but we will assess him and take it from there.”
