Haber's Canada Succumb To Mexico

30 March 2016

Marcus unused sub for both group games

Crewe Alexandra striker Marcus Haber was an unused substitute for both of Canada's 2018 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying Group A matches against Mexico over the weekend.

A 3-0 home defeat in Vancouver in the early hours of Saturday morning, with former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez on the score-sheet, was followed up by a 2-0 loss in Mexico City last night.

Haber failed to make it onto the pitch for either of the defeats as Canada slipped to third in the four team group with two games remaining.

The top two teams progress to the final qualification phase, with Mexico currently on top spot with four wins from four. Honduras are second with four points, ahead of Canada on goal difference, and El Salvador prop up the rest with two points.

Canada complete the group in September 2016 with a trip to Honduras followed by a home meeting with El Salvador.
