Haber: "Only Three Points Will Do"

16 March 2016

Marcus Haber aiming to sign off on International duty with three points against Blackpool.

Marcus Haber is aiming to sign off for International duty with Canada by helping Crewe secure a precious three points against fellow strugglers Blackpool this weekend. Haber will be away with his country for their World Cup qualifying double header against Mexico over the Easter period, meaning he will miss our League One fixtures against Sheffield United on Good Friday and then at home to Bradford City on the Monday.

It will be a blow to lose your target man for two important league games - but with the chance to possibly qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia, you cannot begrudge the 27-year old from wanting to be a part of it.

Haber, who has hit 7 goals this season, told crewealex.net: “We need to close the gap as quickly as possible and there is no better way of doing that than beating the sides that are down there with you.

“We need the three points this weekend and if we can achieve that then it should restore some confidence for the remaining games of the season. The players know that it is results that count now not performances.

“We have been close to getting that first win but we haven’t quite managed it and we take collective responsibility for that. We haven’t been clinical enough when we have been on top in games and we haven’t managed to get those clean-sheets and see the game out when we have scored the first goal.

“The first goal is always important in whichever game you play and we have to try and score it on Saturday. If we can do that then a clean-sheet would mean everything to us against one of our rivals down there.

“We have to be positive and go out at home and try and win the game in front of our own fans. “
