Fox Will Travel After Passing Fitness Test

11 March 2016

Midfielder David Fox will travel to Gillingham after overcoming calf strain.

Crewe Alexandra will travel down to Kent later this afternoon with a stronger squad after midfielder Chris Atkinson returned from a loan spell at Crawley and David Fox passed a fitness test on his sore calf. Fox missed last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Burton Albion but has been able to resume full training on Wednesday.

With Billy Bingham, George Ray and Harry Davis all fit and available, Steve Davis’s options are beginning to improve with only Brad Inman, Lauri Dalla Valle and young forward Callum Saunders ruled out through injury. Dalla Valle is expected to play for the club’s Under-21s against Birmingham on Monday.

Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “For the longer journeys, we do travel down the night before and make sure the players have time to rest. They will eat well at the hotel and be in bed early. It is important that we prepare well and make sure we are fully rested before the game.

“We will go down after training later today and the squad is looking stronger with H, George (Ray) and Billy (Bingham) back with us and Foxy has passed his fitness test.

“Foxy trained on Wednesday and was fine. He trained well and he will travel with us. We also have Chris available as he has returned from his loan at Crawley, so slowly but surely we are getting our players back.”
