David Fox remains doubtful for Burton clash after picking up slight injury on Tuesday night.

Crewe Alexandra are waiting on the fitness of captain David Fox ahead of the visit of league leaders Burton Albion. Fox is struggling with a tight calf but the club are hopeful that the former Manchester United trainee will shake off the injury to face the Brewers.

Crewe boss Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “Foxy has been struggling since Tuesday. He got a knock on his ankle and it has stiffened up his calf.

“He has been in for treatment and we have to see how he is. If he is ruled out then we would have to look at doing something different in there because we are not blessed with central midfielders at the moment.”
