Dalla Valle Wants Bramall Lane Repeat

24 March 2016

LDV hoping for repeat result at Sheffield United following 2-1 towards the end of last season.

With Marcus Haber away on International duty with Canada over the Easter period, there could be a fresh opportunity for the fit-again Lauri Dalla Valle to stake a claim for a starting place. Crewe travel to Bramall Lane tomorrow to take on Sheffield United and then return to Gresty Road on Easter Monday to face play-off chasing Bradford City.

It is a double header of fixtures that could well determine our League One status and the club’s Finnish striker is hoping he will be handed a chance to help the club retain their place in the third tier.

The former Inter Milan striker recently returned from the ankle ligament injury he sustained in an Under-21 fixture against Leeds United back in late November. After netting against Birmingham City for the Development Squad he was back on the bench for the visit of Blackpool last weekend.

Dalla Valle told crewealex.net: “I have been wanting a long time and I am glad to be back. I hope I can get a get a chance to help the team.

“I have been to watch the home games and we have played well in the games but have made some mistakes that have cost us or not played well for two halves. It is about putting two halves together because we have been in most games that I’ve seen.

“I have been able to study the games and watch the opposition. You learn a lot from watching League One games and how they are played. I have come to try and encourage my team-mates at the games and it is a close group.”

With Haber away, Dalla Valle is battling it out with the likes of Tom Hitchcock, George Cooper, Brad Inman for a starting role in Sheffield. He has fond memories of last season when he scored in an historical 2-1 win against the Blades. Ryan Colclough scored an unbelievable winner deep into stoppage time to seal a famous first ever win at the Stadium.

LDV says: “I remember the game well. It was a good day for us and it would be nice to go there again and get three points. It would give us a massive boost.

“With Marcus away there are not many strikers at the moment, so I hope I will get a chance and I will do my best if the manager selects me.”
