Boss On Udoh Capture

23 March 2016

Steve not ruling out using teenager from Ilkeston for the run-in.

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that new signing Daniel Udoh is one for the future but he has hinted that if the 19-year-old can impress in training and for the Development Squad then he has not ruled out handing him his debut before the end of the season. Striker Udoh signed from Ilkeston on Monday until the summer 2018 and he has been handed the number 39 shirt by the boss.

If the former Stevenage youngster can make an impression then he is registered to play.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Daniel is registered to play and we’ll have a look at him and see where we are and where he fits in. If he is ready to go in and be around the first team then we could play him.

“Neil Baker has told me he is ahead of some of the younger players, so if that is the case then he has every chance of being involved before the end of the season.

“We’ll see how he does in training and if he can perform well then I am not against playing him.

“Two years is a good time period for him to develop. It may take him some time to adjust to the full-time training and what is expected but he is a confident lad and he comes from a nice background. We met his family and he is determined to do well.

He added: “He is two-footed, he can shoot with both feet which is a great advantage and he has a great attitude.”
