'Unlikely Inman Will Stay"

21 June 2016

Steve Davis beleives Brad Inman will move on this summer after going out of contract.

Steve Davis believes it is ‘unlikely’ that forward Bradden Inman will re-sign for the club this summer. The Alex boss wants the Australian International to stay with us but he admits that communication between the two parties has been limited and he feels that the 24-year-old will aim to remain in League One or go higher.

Inman enjoyed one of his most consistent seasons in a Crewe shirt last season, finishing joint top scorer with 10 goals in all competitions from his 42 appearances. His form was that impressive that he earned a first call-up for the Australian national side for their high-profile friendly against England at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light. Unfortunately, the winger was not given any minutes on the pitch.

The Crewe Alexandra boss told crewealex.net: “It is a bit quiet in regards to Brad and I would imagine his agent is collating his options for him.

“I spoke to him before the end of the season and at that time he stressed that he didn’t know what he wanted to do. It’s not rocket science to know that he will be looking elsewhere and seeing what is out there for him. I would say it is unlikely that he will stay with us.

“We would like him to. He is one we were prepared to offer terms to, but of course, we have been relegated to League Two and I’m sure he will be looking to stay in League One or go higher.

“There was some interest in him from Ross County in January, so I’m not sure if they have re-ignited that interest. I am sure he will command a better salary than we can offer him, so we’ll just have to wait and see but as I’ve said I haven’t really spoken to Brad or his agent for a while now.”
