Davis: "We Need More Proven Players"

Boss targets a couple more experienced players to add to Lowe capture.

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he wants another couple of experienced players to add to the capture of Ryan Lowe. The 37-year-old striker became the manager’s first confirmed signing of the summer and he is trying to conclude his business as quickly as possible in readiness for the pre-season.

The boss revealed yesterday that he is interested in a creative winger to provide more assists from midfield and he still wants an experienced central midfielder and possible centre-half if he can move one out.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It was important to get some experience into the club because I felt the squad was too young last season. We needed that proven player to help the group and Ryan (Lowe) will do that.

“He is an influential presence and will be amongst the players. He will be working with them and inside that dressing room every day. He is a good pro and a good lad and he will have that respect from the younger lads because he is a proven player.

“I am sure his winning mentality will rub off on the other players and we need another of that type. I would like an experienced midfielder player but they are not easy to bring in because they are usually at the top end of the wage structure.

“We have lost out on a few because of that and they have managed to get fixed up elsewhere because we cannot compete financially but it shows that we want the right players.

He added: “We are talking to one and hopefully we can get another couple through the door as quickly as possible.”
