Davis: "I'm Sure Some Of Them Will Break"

30 June 2016

Boss outlines his aim for an intense pre-season programme.

Steve Davis says that those players that have not returned to pre-season training with a good base of fitness will be left behind as the work intensifies. The Alex management and sports science department have devised a six-week programme to make sure the team hit the ground running on 6th August.

The Alex boss has devised a competitive challenge to get the players battling it out to get into the top group when it comes to their fitness.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The players have been in for testing over the last couple of days and it will show us who has been working hard over the summer and who needs to be doing extra to catch up. If they are not there physically or fall away then they will be left behind.

“I’m sure there will be some who will drop out because it is going to be tough. It is going to be really hard work, a hard six weeks.

The boss added: “They have to be ready and available for the first game both mentally and physically. It is going to be challenging and it will be break one or two of them. I want them to push each other to better themselves.”
