Conceding Less Goals Will Be Imperative

22 June 2016

Boss to juggle his defence around to find right combination.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he will keep faith with his selection of defenders but he is looking for vast improvement as the Railwaymen aim for promotion from League Two. The Alex conceded 83 league goals last season and although that figure is not totally down to the back four and goalkeeper Ben Garratt, the boss is looking for us to become much harder to beat in the League below.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We have gone down, so will be one of the favourites to go straight back up. Everyone will be looking to beat us, so we have a lot of work ahead of us.

“There is room for improvement in this team. We need to be harder to beat and make it more difficult to score against us. The players we have here can improve on that, but they need to be much better.

“Zoumana will help us at left-back with the experience he brings. We have four centre-half battling it out for two positions and Ollie (Turton) is always wholehearted when he plays at right-back.

He added: “I will look to give Perry (NG) a chance there as well. I will juggle it around in pre-season to see who is in the best form and it will be good to have them all fighting for places.”
