Collins: "We Have To Remain Calm In Transfer Market"

10 June 2016

James Collins says it is important that Crewe remain patient to make sure we sign the right players.

First Team coach James Collins believes that the club have to remain patient in the transfer market to make sure we sign the right players this summer.

The Alex have already secured the services of veteran goalscorer Ryan Lowe after his time at Bury came to an end but missed out on Morecambe winger Jamie Devitt this week after he elected to sign for Carlisle United.

James says that the backroom staff will continue to work their way through their wanted list until they get the right man.

James told crewealex.net: “It doesn’t really surprise me when we lose out on a player because every club experiences it. It has happened throughout my time here as a player under Dario and as a coach. We have our own policy here and we are careful with the finances, which I think is the right way to be.

“There is always risks to signing players and when we cannot compete then we have to look to produce our own outstanding players from our Academy. We would like to supplement that with experienced and good pro’s from outside.

“We have to remains patient and calm because when the pre-season starts I’m sure we will have a whole host of names thrown at us from agents. That is the nature of it, but we have clear targets and when we miss out on one, we move on to the next one. That is our focus and we are all working hard to make sure we get the right ones in.”
