Boss Expects Movement To Pick Up

24 June 2016

Steve Davis expects more movement to happen with players set to slip out of contract.

Steve Davis expects the transfer window to really kick into gear over the next couple of weeks but the Alex boss says he will continue to be patient in trying to attract the right player to the Football Club. With players contracts set to expire at the end of the month, they will now be looking to land themselves a club ahead of the pre-season games.

Davis has already secured the services of the experienced Ryan Lowe and Zoumana Bakayogo this summer and he has gone on record this week to say that he is in dialogue with another midfield player and a forward.

Steve explained to crewealex.net: “Players are usually contracted until the end of June, so now they will looking over their options and will want to be get fixed-up in readiness for pre-season.

“I’m sure decisions will have to make over the next few weeks, as they won’t want to be left with nowhere to go. I’m sure, with the end of the month approaching and clubs returning to training there will be a lot more movement.

“We have never been a club that has gone out and signed five, six, seven players really quickly. We cannot go out and go bang, bang, bang like some clubs have done. They have made mistakes doing that and then try to offload them only a few months later. It becomes costly when they don’t work out.

“We try to be patient and make sure we get some of our first choices and we cannot get them we go for the next best. I am delighted that we have been able to land our first choices and to get them fairly early.

“We made them the best offers we could and got them over the line.

Steve added: “I have met others and had them through the door. I’ve spoken to them and told them how they will fit in here, they are impressed with the facilities and how we can help them with their development - but with some of them, money is their top priority rather their development and that is something we have to live with.”
