Steve Davis says Bakayogo is still to decide on future.
Steve Davis has admitted that talks with Zoumana Bakayogo have ‘stalled’ and he may have to explore other possible avenues in his search for a left-footer. Bakayogo, 29, is currently on holiday with his family in France and Davis says that no further conversations have taken place with the former Tranmere and Leicester defender.
Crewe have made an offer to Bakayogo after he proved his fitness levels in the second half of last season. He went on to score one goal during his 22 appearances for the Railwaymen.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Zoumana is away in France with his family. I would think he has gone away to spend some time with his family and consider his next move.
“I would imagine he has tried to switch off from football for a bit and enjoy his break. I have not spoken to him and I think his agent has found it difficult to get hold of him as well.
“It has stalled a bit and he has gone beyond the deadline we originally set him. He knows he is still my number one choice and we want him to stay but we will just have to wait and see.
The boss added: “If we don’t get a decision soon then we will look at other possibilities. We have one or two we are looking at.”
