Ben: "Promotion Has To Be At The Front Of Our Minds"

13 June 2016

Ben Garratt says Alex have to keep more clean sheets if are going to be contenders.

Crewe Alexandra’s Supporters ‘Player-Of The-Season, Ben Garratt says that we will have to concede far less goals if we are to be considered serious promotion candidates out of League Two. The Alex stopper has been in consistent form for the club over the last few seasons and he recently surpassed the 100 mark for appearances.

Garratt, a former Youth International goalkeeper with England told the club’s official web-site: “The aim when we get going again is promotion. Everyone at the club is striving for that. It has to at the front of our minds.

“We have conceded far too many goals for everyone’s liking, especially for me as a goalkeeper. If we want to have a chance of winning more games and winning promotion then we know we have to concede far less goals.

“I have kept myself ticking over. I think it’s important and there are a number of the lads coming in over the summer to do that. You cannot have six or seven weeks off and then go through pre-season. If you want to have a successful season then being in the best shape you can gives you that best chance.”
