Callum Ainley
Crewe Alexandra’s promising youngster Callum Ainley hopes he can play even more of a pivotal role next season after impressing during his breakthrough season. Ainley 18, won the club’s Breakthrough Player of the Year award from the supporters after making 17 appearances for the first-team and netting his first goal at senior level in the 3-1 home win over Doncaster Rovers towards the end of the season.
Ainley, is hoping that he can now cement a more regular start under boss Steve Davis and become a key player.
Ainley told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “I want to have a good pre-season and start in the first team and see where things go. You have to keep pushing on.
“It was a bit up and down last season. It started well, dipped a bit in the middle but then I felt I picked up again at the end.
“Now we need to go in to pre-season winning games, get back to winning games and that will help us push up the league next year.
“The opposition will be different and there will be longer away trips but we’re looking forward to it.”
