Callum Ainley proud to win fans 'Breakthrough Player Award'
Teenager Callum Ainley says he is delighted to have won the fan’s vote for their ‘Breakthrough Player Of-The-Year’.
Ainley was one of the bright lights in a disappointing season, making 17 appearances and scoring his first senior goal against Doncaster Rovers on the final home game of the season.
The 18-year-old won the fans vote and was presented with his trophy by boss Steve Davis.
Callum told crewealex.net: “It is great to be recognised by the supporters because they have come and supported us in a difficult season.
“I had my ups and down during the season but I felt I picked up after going back into the team and it was great to score my first goal. I wish my first season had been in different circumstances, but now we have to push on and make sure we have a good season.
“We need to get back to winning games on a regular basis and I am looking forward to pre-season and trying to get in the team.”
