Turton Could Move Back Into Midfield

6 July 2016

Ollie Turton could be set for new role in pre-season.

Steve Davis says he could switch Ollie Turton back into a midfield role if he cannot secure the new midfield player he wants. The versatile Turton has switched between midfield and right-back during his career and Davis is considering utilising the energy and competitiveness of the Altrincham-based youngster.

Steve is still chasing a new midfield player after allowing the experienced David Fox to leave the club this summer. He has the emerging Callum Ainley and Ryan Wintle to call upon but admitted yesterday that he would like another.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Getting another midfielder in is important but we do have options here as well. Callum Ainley and Ryan Wintle could establish themselves or I could move Ollie back into midfield and play Perry (NG) at right-back.

“Ollie has great energy levels and is a ball winning type. He gets around the pitch for you and is fairly consistent. You know what you are getting with him and either way, he is a versatile player who can in two positions.”
