Steve Looking Forward To Wolves Test

15 July 2016

Crewe take on Wolves at Gresty Road this evening

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he is looking forward to seeing his side really tested by Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening. Kenny Jackett has named a strong looking side for the trip to the Alexandra Stadium and Davis has revealed that the players will get game time according to their fitness levels.

Defenders Harry Davis and Perry NG have recovered from slight knocks to be in contention for their first involvement in pre-season.

Ahead of tonight’s game at Gresty Road, which kicks off at 7.30pm, Steve told crewealex.net: “It will be a good test for us. We didn’t have this level of test last season and Wolves will test us both mentally and physically and that is what I am looking for.

“We have cut back on the number of local games we are playing because we don’t tend to get the test we needed. That was certainly the case last season and playing some of the non-league sides does give our younger players an opportunity to play against men.

“The key against Wolves, is that they will have possession and test us all over the pitch. We have to play fatigued and it will be interesting to see where we are. The players will get 45, 60, or 90 minutes depending on their level of fitness. They are at different stages now.

“Harry and Perry are fit. They had slight knocks and there was no point risking them at this stage. They could get some game time this evening.”
