20-year-old midfielder joins until January
Crewe Alexandra can confirm the signing of 20-year-old Newcastle United midfielder Liam Smith on a loan deal until 9 January 2017.The youngster joins Steve Davis' set-up immediately and will be available up to, and including, the trip to Mansfield Town on 7 January.
After graduating through the Magpies' academy and earning a pro contract in 2015, Smith joined Blackpool in League One on a two-month loan in March 2016 for his first taste of senior football.
He made four starts and four substitute appearances for the Club before returning to Newcastle at the end of the 2015/16 campaign.
Smith will begin training with his new team mates at Reaseheath tomorrow and will be available for selection for the friendly match with Wolves at Gresty Road on Friday evening.
