New loan signing Liam Smith believes his six-month loan move to Crewe Alexandra could prove to the ‘perfect match’ The ball laying midfielder has joined on a standard loan from Newcastle United and the 20-year-old is eager to get more game time under his belt after spending time on loan at Blackpool last season.
January, the South Shields born youngster told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “As soon as I heard that Crewe were interested I want to come out on loan. It is a team that likes to play football and that suits my game. I just cannot wait to get started now. thAfter signing until 9
“I like to get on the ball and play. I can play in front of the back four, further forward or play off a striker. I don’t mind where I play and I will play wherever the gaffer wants me to. Hopefully, it will be a good match and I can play a large number of games from now until January.
“I will get to January and see where I am then but I am just looking forward to the challenge here and hopefully I can show the fans what I can do. They have been really welcoming on Twitter and I can only thank them for that.
“I went to Blackpool for 11 games or so and it was a good experience to get my first taste of the Football League. I was thrown in a bit because they were in a relegation battle but it was a good learning curve.”
