Kirk Hoping To Push His Claim

19 July 2016

Charlie Kirk says two games this week gives everyone a perfect platform to impress the manager.

Crewe Alexandra youngster Charlie Kirk is looking forward to two move games coming up this week against Nantwich Town this evening and then against Bolton Wanderers on Friday evening.

August. thKirk, who is battling to try and establish himself in Steve Davis’ starting XI for the opening game of the season is hoping to make an impression to make sure he gets a shirt for the opening game at Stevenage on 6

Kirk told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “Pre-season is going well. I had some time away, enjoyed that, but since then it has been hard work.

“We’ve done quite a lot of running, but no one seems off it. Everybody seems like they’ve looked after themselves, so it all looks good and the fitness is improving all the time.

“I just want to show what I can do to the gaffer and try and get in the team to start the season.

“Last year is out of mind now. We’ve just got to think about this season coming up and we’ve got to forget about last season because we don’t want that under us. We just want to get promoted, that’s the aim.

“Playing against some good opposition in pre-season has been good for us so far. It will be tough against Nantwich and Bolton this week.

Charlie added: “It is always good to play at home to show the fans how we are and they can get a good look so I’m looking forward to it again after the Wolves game.”
