Experienced Duo Set The Example

25 July 2016

Steve says strikers work ethic is rubbing off on others in the squad.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that the experienced duo of Dagnall and Lowe has set the example to the young players in the squad. The two strikers combined again in seeing us take the lead against a Bolton Wanderers XI on Friday evening. Lowe slipped Dagnall in behind the Bolton back line and he slipped his finish beyond Ben Amos to put Crewe ahead on the stroke of half-time.

Davis is delighted with his summer captures and says their hard work and professional approach is rubbing off on others.

Steve told crewealex.net: “The strikers always give you a chance and we know that he can create chances then they can score goals for us. Daggers could have had a hat-trick on Friday but he keeps getting in there.

“With those experienced strikers, you know that they having been in the situation time and time again, they have that composure to score goals. They both have it.

“Daggers works tirelessly for the team and he never gives a defender a minute’s peace. He runs and runs and is a nightmare to mark because he has the ability to drop off and link the play or he can run in behind.

“Lowey has been struggling with his tooth infection but he wanted to play 60 minutes and keep himself going. He ran about up there for us and those two have shown the way. They work hard for the team and set the example to the younger ones.

The boss added: “Hopefully, if the two strikers can keep combining then they are going to be a real handful for defences.”
