EFL Statement - Greg Clarke

22 July 2016

EFl Statement on Greg Clarke's nomination for the position of FA Chairman.

Following Greg Clarke’s nomination for the position of FA Chairman by the FA Board, EFL Chairman Ian Lenagan said:“I am delighted that my predecessor as EFL Chairman, Greg Clarke, has been nominated to Chair the Football Association at such an important time for English football.  I have no doubt that Greg is the right choice and has the breadth of experience both as a fan, and as a director and chairman in club football, to be a success at the FA.

“There is very clearly an important  job to be done in uniting the various elements of English football so that the whole can finally become greater than the sum of the parts.  Greg faced similar challenges in his six years at The Football League, culminating in a strong sense of collective purpose amongst our clubs that delivered genuine progress.  I have no doubt that he will achieve the same outcome at the FA by bringing together all aspects of the domestic game.

“He will have the full support of the EFL in seeking to do that.”
