Davis On Dagnall Capture

5 July 2016

Boss praises Crewe board after forward Chris Dagnall becomes third signing of the summer.

Steve Davis has praised Chairman John Bowler and the club’s board of directors for getting the signing of Chris Dagnall over the line.

The 30-year-old striker has agreed a two-year-deal and will team-up with his close pal Ryan Lowe in a new-look strike force as Crewe Alexandra aim to exit League Two at the first time of asking.

The Crewe Alexandra boss is delighted to have added another proven goalscorer to his squad options.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Chris is a proven goalscorer and will be a good signing for us. There are not many available with his type of goalscoring record, so we are pleased to have him.

“He is lively and works tremendously hard for the team. He has always made good runs and he can score goals. He is everything you need in a goalscorer.

“The board have been great and very supportive over bringing Chris into the club. John has been supportive ever since I explained to him and the directors why I felt we needed a player with Chris’ pedigree.

The boss added: “I don’t like to spend unnecessarily and I am delighted it has been allowed to happen. It will give the group a lift to have a player of Chris’ experience and ability. I’m sure they will learn from him like they will from Ryan and Zoumana.”
