Alex boss hoping to step-up search for midfielder.

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that there is a ‘little bit of something happening with a midfield player this week’. The Crewe Alexandra boss has revealed that he wants to add another midfield player and winger to his squad ahead of the new season.

Crewe started their warm-up campaign with a 3-2 win at Buxton FC on Friday evening and now travel to Kidsgrove Athletic tonight for another pre-season work out.

The Alex boss said: “I would like to add two or three more if we can and that will either be permanently or on loan. The aim is to get the best players we can.

“I would like another midfield player, maybe two because we are desperately short in that position. If James Jones or Billy Bingham get injured then we are relying on the kids to come in.

“I would like to sign a right-back because that would give us cover and another option with Ollie, moving back into midfield.

“There is a little bit of something happening with a midfielder. There is nothing definite but we have one in mind.”
