Steve challenges his squad players to mount competition ahead of new season.
Steve Davis says that it will be a clean-slate for all the members of his squad and that the opportunity is there for anyone to stake his claim for a more regular role.
Crewe Alexandra kick off their pre-season fixtures with a trip to Buxton on Friday and that is quickly followed by a Monday night fixture at Kidsgrove Athletic.
The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “I have said that I want to try and bring in some more experience but the main thing will be to try to bring in quality players to improve the team. I want players who can go straight into the team and make a difference to us.
“I also want those who were not involved as much last season to provide that extra competition. I want them to push on and challenge. It is a new start and the pre-season is the ideal time to make an impression. It’s up to them. We have players like George Cooper, Callum Saunders, Ryan Wintle and the young boys Kirk and Ainley who were in-and-out at times last season.
“Their aim is to get into the team and stay there because of their performances. Some of those have to improve to get into the team, they will know that and they have work to do. It is a new season and it’s up to them to do well.”
