We Have Players Good Enough To Step Up

22 January 2016

Boss is sure that depsite our position in the league our players are on the radar for other clubs.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has not totally ruled out on of his players leaving during the January window. Davis has already gone on to record to say that the likes of Ben Garratt, Ryan Colclough and James Jones have the potential to step up to a higher level and he believes that the volume of scouts still attending games at Gresty Road shows that we have players who interest other clubs.

Davis believes that the January transfer window is usually relatively quiet because clubs prefer to conduct their significant business in the summer but the Alex boss says he wouldn’t be surprised if some of his young players were on some clubs radars.

He told the club’s official web-site: “The transfer window is pretty quiet everywhere at the moment. We have had no enquires about our players yet but that doesn’t say we won’t.

“It has happened to us before and you can never say never until the very last minute. We have lost players such as Ashley Westwood on a deadline day before, so you cannot rule it out.

“Everyone knows that here at Crewe if the right club and the right offer comes in for one our young players then they are available.

He added: “We have a large volume of scouts that attend our games and I know that some of our players are good enough to make that step up.”
