Bingham & Ng sink Sky Blues at Gresty Road

A goal in either half from Billy Bingham and Perry Ng was enough to secure victory for Crewe Alexandra Under 21's against Coventry City at Gresty Road.

The Alex were the better side throughout the contest and secured the points thanks to Bingham's fine free-kick and Ng's well-taken half-volley.

Manager Alex Morris was able to name two senior pros in Bingham and Chris Atkinson in central midfield as well as fit-again goalkeeper Dave Richards.

Crewe dictated much of the first-half play without looking too threatening until Andre Brown was fouled 20-yards from goal in the 34th minute.

Bingham stepped up to the free-kick and curled a beautiful effort into the top corner leaving the Sky Blues keeper with no chance.

Into the second period and Crewe stepped on the pedal, Callum Ainley's guile and Brown's fantastic hold-up play particularly catching the eye.

Coventry huffed and puffed in search of an equaliser, but the second goal came the way of Crewe with Ng fantastically half-volleying into the roof of the net at the back post from a deep corner.

That 81st minute strike proved enough as The Alex saw the game out comfortable to record the points.

Crewe: Richards, Baillie, Kearns, Ng, Trialist, Howell, Atkinson, Bingham, Ainley, Brown, Lowery (Kirk, 64)
