This Young Group Can Bounce Back

22 January 2016

Boss praises the bouncebackability of his squad following a number of blows.

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says his group are more than capable of bouncing back from a disappointing defeat at Swindon last weekend to surprise promotion chasing Wigan Athletic at Gresty Road.

Steve says that his young players possess the potential of getting over disappointments fairly quickly and he knows that if they play to their full potential then they can compete against any side at this level.

Ahead of our home game with Gary Caldwell’s Latics, the Crewe boss told us: “The players have had another good week. They can show some real resilience and credit to them they tend to bounce back fairly quickly and get down to the work on the training pitch.

“They have worked hard all week and they were as frustrated as us over what happened in the second half at Swindon.

“They have taken blow, after blow after blow with last minute goals or conceding leads but they do tend to respond well. They have picked themselves up and they are ready to go again.

They all want to do well and if they play to their full potential then they have shown that they can beat anyone of their day.

“If they put on a good performance then that gives us a greater percentage of getting something from the game. They did that against Sheffield United when everyone predicted we wouldn’t get anything.

The boss added: “We played really well that day and restricted their chances and if we can do that again then we are more than capable of getting a good result on Saturday.”
