Steve To Look At System Change

6 January 2016

Crewe boss says he will look over a different formation in the build-up tothe Swindon game.

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says that he will contemplate a change in formation over the next couple of weeks to see if that can help us enjoy a change in fortune.

The Alex boss has experimented with a number of systems this season and since the arrival of Ryan Lowe on loan from Bury has really settled on a more traditional 4-4-2 formation. He has also played with three centre halves, started the campaign with 4-3-3 and has also played with a one off the front.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We will have some time to look at everything and that includes the shape. We will look at what we could do.

“We have been flexible with our formations in the past to try and give us an advantage in games. It is something we have to do to try and surprise the opposition.

“We have been playing 4-4-2 lately and at times it has worked well. Marcus (Haber) has certainly benefitted from having a runner up there with him. It has helped him.

when we get the bodies back.  “We have tried 4-3-3 this season and had success with 3-5-2 in the past. We have had some centre-halves out injured, so that has been harder to implement. That could be a possibility

“With the two in midfield, you can sometimes get over run and that was the case against Coventry. The players can sometimes find it hard physically. They can cope with it technically but it can be difficult to cover the ground the expected to do.

“We will have a look at the system and plan for Swindon accordingly.”
