Steve Davis surprised by King's recall to Swansea

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he was ‘surprised’ to see midfielder Adam King recalled by Swansea City.

January.thThe Crewe Alexandra boss had been keen to keep the 20-year-old on loan after a successful first part of season saw him score five goals in 26 appearances. The Scotland Youth International was recalled by the Premier League side after his loan deal expired on 5

Steve said: “I was surprised to see Adam be recalled by Swansea because we presumed that his loan would be extended.

“He is Swansea’s player and that can happen with the loan system. They have recalled a large number of their loan players back to be assessed and that decision has been made and you have to accept it.

“We thought we would be able to keep him but him going back will give others a chance. We have enough cover in midfield with the four we have and then we can bring in Ryan Wintle, Callum Ainley or bring in another winger, so we are okay.

“It was a good loan for us and Adam is a top lad. He did well for us and scored some important goals. He has a great knack of getting into the opposition box and he could have had double figures instead of the five he has scored.

“His ratio of getting into the box is good and if keeps doing that then he will score goals. He is determined to keep on improving and has a great attitude.

“I would like to go on record to thank him for his efforts and thank Swansea for letting us have him for the first part of the season.”
