Nugent: "Our Flair Players Always Give Us Chance"

25 January 2016

Ben Nugent says form of front four will be a handful for any defence in League One.

Central defender Ben Nugent says that with the attack minded Ryan Colclough, Brad Inman and the recalled George Cooper in form and combining with target man Marcus Haber, Crewe Alexandra can become a real handful to any team in the division.

Cooper returned to the starting line-up for the first time since October to produce his best all-round performance for a while and Colclough combined with Inman superbly to create our equalising goal.

The influential Colclough also hit the crossbar after his shot from the edge of the box saw the Wigan goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen get the slightest of touches to it. It was a fantastic save to prevent Crewe going 2-1 up just ahead of the half time interval.

Ben told the club’s official web-site: “Ryan and Brad are potential match winners and they have been doing really well of late. Coops came back into the team as well and did well. He has been really good in training and he deserves that chance. He has been lively and sharp and he took that into the game.

“We had a front four at times on Saturday and tried to take the game to Wigan as much as we could. With Marcus up there and those skilful players working in and around him, it always gives us chance in games.

Ben added: “There are lots of points still be play for and it is still very tight down there. If we can get those couple of wins then it could change very quickly. Hopefully, we can produce a similar performance to the Wigan one and take that into the game at Bury and then Millwall this week. “
