Davis Wary Of Ajose Threat

13 January 2016

Alex boss says defence will have to be on red alert to prevent goal poacher Ajose.

Steve Davis says his Crewe Alexandra defence will have to be on red alert to make sure that our former loanee striker Nicky Ajose is kept quiet at the County Ground this weekend. The Alex boss is a big fan of Swindon's penalty box poacher and has gone on record to say that without his 9 goals for Crewe Alexandra during his loan spell last season then the Railwaymen could well have slipped into League Two.

Ajose joined Swindon Town in the summer from Leeds United and he has gone on to score an impressive 12 goals in 22 appearances this season.

The Crewe boss said of the 24-year-old hit-man: “Nicky is a goalscorer. He is a penalty box poacher and his movement is always very good. He makes clever runs and he is always trying to get in there and get goals.

“He gets his rebounds and things off the goalkeeper and he has a great appetite for scoring goals.

“Nicky is a great lad and he has had another successful season with Swindon this season.

“Swindon still play an attractive style of football. They like to keep the ball, pass it and look for openings. They have a skilful way of playing and they have carried on the good work that Mark Cooper did there previously.”
