Steve Davis believes that Ryan Colclough can go and become as good as he wants as long as he works on his game.
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis believes that Ryan Colclough has the potential to go on and play even higher in his career.
Davis feels that the 21-year-old has joined an ambitious and well-structured by signing for one of League One’s biggest clubs and that having the opportunity to play for the Latics will only progress his career further.
Colclough signed a three and half year deal at the DW Stadium late last night and Crewe will receive further payments on the number of appearances he makes and have included a potential sell on clause in the deal.
Steve told crewealex.net: “Ryan is still young and will improve. If he keeps progressing then that will only benefit us, because we have bonus clauses in the contract. If he moves on we also have a sell on clause and he has the potential to go on.
“He is a very ambitious and determined lad and he knows what he wants. He has to improve aspects of his game and understand the game move but he is capable of becoming even better.
“He has got to do more than rely on his natural ability.
“Of course, the timing for us is not ideal but we have a business model in place. We have to sell a player and that has always been the way ever since I first arrived as a player under Dario.”
