Boss Would Still Like Lowe Return

22 January 2016

Steve Davis nothing over Lowe loan will be concluded one way or another until after our meeting with the Shakers on Tuesday.

Bury striker Ryan Lowe is still in Steve Davis’ sights as he looks to increase the competition in our forward line, but he appreciates that the 37-year-old may remain at Gigg Lane after he proved his fitness levels when starring for us on loan. Lowe scored two goals for the Railwaymen during a one month loan and Davis has been keen to extend their arrangement going into 2016.

Bury recalled the former Tranmere and Shrewsbury man after his loan spell with us came to an end and he was recently used in their FA Cup clashes with Bradford City, scoring his penalty kick in the decisive shoot-out at the end of Tuesday night’s replay.

Steve explained to the club’s official web-site: “We are still trying for Ryan but it has gone a bit quiet because he is their player and he has played for them in the FA Cup. He was ill last weekend, so didn’t play.

“They are still involved in the FA Cup after winning on penalties against Bradford, so they may choose to keep him.

“We play Bury on Tuesday night, so for obvious reasons nothing will be decided until after that at the very least.

“We will chase it up after that and see if there is any possibility of him coming back. We need some competition and cover for our forward positions and Ryan would certainly provide that.

He added: “It also depends on what Bury want to do during the window. I’m sure they will look to strength in certain areas and if they are able to bring one or two new ones in they may look to allow one or two back out. “
